Who are we?
C at Sinn Fin?
Team Na Fanna is a multifaceted group of individuals predominately
located in the Midwest region of the United States near St. Louis, Missouri.
Despite their different backgrounds in ages, abilities, likes and dislikes,
they all share a common appreciation for two things: FUN & PAINTBALL!
Team Na Fanna originally began as a local Tae Kwon Do team formed
in the late 1980's which in turn, grew to produce numerous local,
State, Regional, National, International and Olympic Tae Kwon Do athletes
& champions representing the countries of both the United States & Ireland.
Eight of the Na Fanna members hold martial arts rankings from First to
Third Degree Black Belt; while several other members have former
and current martial arts training as well as Military and Law Enforcement experience.
In their pursuit of Tae Kwon Do excellence, Na Fanna utilizes Woods ball Paintball
as an effective form of cross training for conditioning and combative mental skills
development. With the onset of Paintball scenario events on the rise,
Na Fanna has morphed their combative success of kicks and punches into successful
strategic expertise and fun in the fields of Paintball play.
While Team Na Fanna does NOT adhere, believe or condone the philosophy
of the former Nazi Germany regime, they have chosen to play on the Axis side
in WW-II paintball scenarios for several reasons: first of all, somebody has to play them,
many of the Na Fanna members have some German ancestry, several of them speak German
and let's face it, the German soldiers of WW-II had much cooler looking uniforms and equipment.
Who were the Fanna?
C bh na Fanna?
The Fianna were warriors in Ireland who lived over a thousand years ago.
Every man of the Fianna was chosen for his strength and bravery,
was specially trained in warfare and was made a champion among warriors.
This band of warriors were sworn to fight for the high king of
Ireland and to keep the peace among the sub-kings of Ireland.
Usually before any man could officially become a Fianna warrior
he had to undergo some tests:
* While standing in a hole as deep as his waist he had to
be able to defend himself against nine warriors using only
a shield and a hazel rod.
* He had to escape from nine warriors by running through the
forest without breaking a twig under his feet or tearing
his clothes on bramble.
* He had to be able to jump over a branch as high as himself
and run under another as low as his knee.
* While running at top speed through the forest he had to be
able to pick a thorn from his foot without stopping.
* He had to learn twelve books of poetry by heart and also
know many of the old legends and stories.
